Messenhigh's first life drawing class at Stroud Arts College was an eye opening one. The value of being able to objectively study every detail and every uniqueness of the subject, seeing every crease and every wrinkle of the life model, admiring the strength and complexity of it. Looking beyond the flesh and reducing seeming complex components to simple lines and shapes and witnessing the abstract beauty without physical atraction or sexual objectification.
